Sequenzy vs Klaviyo (2026): An Honest, Hands-On Comparison

Disclosure: This comparison includes affiliate links to both Sequenzy and Klaviyo. If you sign up through either, I earn a commission. I run production email on both platforms and only recommend what I would use myself, so where Klaviyo is the better call, I say so plainly.
I run e-commerce email on Klaviyo for several stores, and I recently rebuilt the entire abandoned-checkout flow of my own store, Goldlett, on Sequenzy, an indie, agent-first email platform, driven end to end through its API by an AI coding agent. So this is not a spec-sheet comparison. It is what I learned using both on real stores.
Short version: Klaviyo is still the stronger e-commerce email tool if you build in a UI. Sequenzy is the better bet if you build with APIs and AI agents. They are optimizing for two different kinds of operator.
Sequenzy vs Klaviyo at a glance (2026)
| Sequenzy | Klaviyo | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | API-first / agent-driven teams, indie builders | E-commerce teams building in a UI |
| Price | Free tier, low paid tiers | Free to 250 profiles, then climbs with list size |
| Prebuilt e-commerce flows | Basic, being built out | Deep: abandoned checkout, browse, win-back |
| API / CLI / MCP | Full: run the whole program by API or an agent | Read and report API; flow content is UI-only |
| Dynamic cart block | Not yet native | Native, drag-and-drop |
| Segmentation | Strong, plain-English via AI | Deep, behavioral, predictive |
| Predictive analytics | No | Yes (CLV, churn, next order) |
| Deliverability | Amazon SES, custom domain auth | Mature, high-volume proven |
| Maturity | New, indie, ships fast | Established, enterprise-grade |
Where Klaviyo wins today
Klaviyo has years of e-commerce depth and it shows. Its prebuilt Abandoned Checkout flow ships with a native dynamic cart block, so each recipient sees the exact items they left and a working checkout link, and you mostly edit copy rather than wiring up mechanics. Add predictive analytics (lifetime value, churn risk, predicted next order), a huge integration catalog, and battle-tested high-volume deliverability, and for a store owner clicking through a UI, Klaviyo is still the safer, faster path to a working revenue flow.
If your real question is whether to move up from the built-in Shopify Email to Klaviyo at all, I wrote that up separately in Klaviyo vs Shopify Email.
Where Sequenzy wins
Sequenzy's bet is different: it is agent-first. You can run your entire email program, subscribers, segments, campaigns, sequences, transactional, from an API, a CLI, or an AI agent over MCP. Klaviyo cannot do that; its flow content is UI-only. I rebuilt a live store's cart-recovery flow on Sequenzy without opening the dashboard, and the agent that built it also caught three real bugs before any customer saw them. I wrote that up in the hands-on Sequenzy review.
It is also cheaper at the entry, it moves fast (I flagged rough edges to the founder and got same-day fixes), and it takes agent safety seriously, with API keys you can scope so an agent literally cannot hit send or delete. For an indie builder or a team that automates with agents, that is less friction, not more.
The one question that decides it
Do you build your email by clicking, or by API and agents?
- ✓If you build by clicking, choose Klaviyo. The prebuilt e-commerce flows and the dynamic cart block get you to revenue faster, and Sequenzy does not match that depth yet.
- ✓If you build with APIs and AI agents, choose Sequenzy. Running your whole email program programmatically is a genuine advantage Klaviyo cannot offer, and the one gap it still needs to close (prebuilt e-commerce templates with dynamic carts) is closing.
Honest verdict
This is not "new tool beats incumbent." Klaviyo is the more complete e-commerce email platform in 2026, and for most store owners it is still the right default. Sequenzy is the more interesting tool if you are an API-first or agent-first builder, and it is worth a serious look with clear eyes about where it is still behind. Pick the one that matches how you actually work, not the one with the longer feature list.
If you want to try Sequenzy on the merits, you can start here. And if the deeper question is Klaviyo versus the built-in Shopify Email, start with that comparison instead.
